Gombolola
Sabaddu Katabi town council has a vivid vision ‘‘A livable town where all
citizens enjoy a decent and sustainable quality of life’’ under the sub-theme
‘for a sustainable urban service delivery’.

Along with its
mission of providing cost effective and community focused services, all the
aforementioned are targeted towards according the residents a tranquil and decent
life style.

For the
third year running, Gombolola Sabaddu Katabi will organize a marathon with
three different catergories (5KM, 10KM and 21KM) with the intent to better
nature with the theme ‘Go Green, Save our motherland’.

In 2017
where the inaugural run was organized at Katabi headquarters, proceeds realized
were channelled back towards community development.

It was the
same story line during the subsequent edition where close to 1000 tree
seedlings were planted in Mpala.

Still, it
will be the case as the 2019 edition comes knocking on 10th March at Nalugala
ward, Katabi-sub County.

According to
the mayor of Katabi Town Council, Ronald Kalema Bassamulakere, at least 4000 tree
seedlings will be planted along the Banana village road covering a total
distance of 2.7KM.

Like the norm has been for the previous two years, Katabi Town Council in conjunction with Gombolola Sabaddu will once again organize a marathon. This marathon will take place on Sunday, 10th March 2019 in three catergories (5KM, 10KM and 21KM) starting and finishing at Nalugala, Katabi sub country. The charges shall be 5000/=, 10,000/= and 20,000/= for children, adults and VIP’s respectively. The essence of this marathon is to raise awareness about the value of nature conservation because we shall plant 4000 tree seedlings along the Banana village road which has a stretch of 2.7KM. We intend to plant eucalyptus tree species.

The marathon technical personnel Billy Ssebambulidde confirms there are different prizes and cash rewards lined up for the top performers on the day as a motivational element.

There are prizes and cash rewards that await the winners and other top performers.

The young and aged will take part in the 2019 Gombolola Sabaddu Katabi marathon

Besides boosting fitness levels of the participants, marathons are a key strategy of mass mobilization for people used as a plat form to fund-raise and well as network in equal measure.

Tickets are available at all the 26 Katabi Local Council one offices and at Katabi headquarters.
