Little Mountain Elementary students put on their running shoes last Thursday, and circled the gymnasium for a good cause. The student body partook in a fundraiser put on by Apex where students sought donations in advance for each lap they would be able to complete up to 36 laps. Many students blew past that mark as an Apex DJ blasted music and group leaders encouraged students to run (carefully) and enjoy themselves.
LME Principal Gabe Hackett estimated that the fundraiser, which was done on behalf of the PTO, raised more than $25,000 in pledges for Little Mountain. Hacket said that the PTO takes pride in making sure all money raised goes directly back to the classrooms, and they help to fund many aspects of education, such as technology, field trips, class projects, classroom libraries, and more.
