    1. Your shoes are well past they use-by date. The cushioning that protects your feet becomes useless long before the carbon rubber of the outsole (black bit) wears away. If you are wearing-out the black bits, you should have replaced your shoes 50 miles ago. Rough rule of thumb, 400-500 miles, depending on your weight.
